💮 Auni: The monsoon season marks the arrival of the nurturing mother. It symbolizes the sowing of seeds in soft, rain-soaked soil—akin to the beginning of creation and hope. This is known as auni.

💮 Chauni: Farmers nurture the crops with care, watching them thrive under the sun and swaying winds. This period reflects abundance as the golden grains (shish) symbolize prosperity. This is known as chauni.

🏵️ Bauni: During the harvest months of Agrahayan and Poush, grains fill the barns, symbolizing the mother's abundance. Rituals like alpana decorations and filling jars with grains reflect gratitude, binding oneself to the nurturing essence of the earth and mother. This is known as bauni.

As Poush comes nearer, the elders of the house sing in a melodious, kirtan-like rhythm:

"Come, Poush, don't go;

Stay with us, life after life.

With golden grains adorning its head,

A bracelet in hand, a basket on the shoulder,

Poush comes in softly, with its blessings

The season concludes with songs celebrating Poush, expressing deep emotional ties with the land and its traditions.

🌾 আউনি- চাউনি - বাউনি 🌾

🪷আউনি হল বর্ষাকালে মায়ের আসার সময়। গর্ভসঞ্চার কাল। জলভরা মেঘ মাটির বুকে নরম কাদা তোয়ার করে বীজ বপন করে সেইটে আগমনী বা আউনী।

💮 চাষ হয়। কৃষক তার সর্বস্ব দিয়ে মাকে আগলে রাখার চেষ্টা করেন। রোদ্দুরে স্নান করে, পূবালি হাওয়ায় মাথা দুলিয়ে দুলিয়ে শীর্ষাস্বরূপিনী (শীষ) মা দেখেন শস্যের প্রাচুর্য। এই চেয়ে দেখা চাউনি।

🏵️ অষ্টম ও নবম মাস অগ্রহায়ন এবং পৌষে শস্য আসে ঘরে ধানের গোলায় তৈজসপত্র শস্য ও প্রাচুর্যে বাঁধা পড়েন মা এইটা হল বন্ধন বা বাউনি।

মরাই থেকে তুলসী মঞ্চের সম্মুখে শুরু হয় আলপনা দেওয়া। আলপনার সাথে সাথে কড়ি এবং শস্যকৌটায় ধান্য ভরে বিনুনি বেঁধে মা'কে স্নেহডোরে বাঁধার পালাও শুরু হয়। তবে হ্যাঁ, মাকে তো বাঁধা যায় না। এ আসলে নিজেকে বাঁধা। নিজের স্নেহ কাতরতায় মাতৃ অঞ্চলে নিজেকে বেঁধে ফেলার প্রক্রিয়া আউনি- বাউনি।

পৌষ বুড়ির দিন এগিয়ে আসে। কীর্তনের মত সুর করে করে দুলে দুলে গান গায় আমাদের ঘরের বুড়ি,

এসো পৌষ যেও নি,

জন্মে জন্মে ছেড়ো নি।

পৌষের মাথায় সোনার বিঁড়ি,

হাতে নড়ি কাঁখে ঝুড়ি,

পৌষ আসছে গুঁড়ি গুঁড়ি।
